Availability of alcohol products in Ontario, Canada Planning a trip to Ontario, Canada? You may find it helpful to know about the laws concerning beer and liquor. You must be at least 19 years of age to drink alcohol. Licensed establishments may not serve alcohol outside of these days/hours: Monday to Sunday: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Beer is generally only available at designated “beer” stores. Few, if any, outlets are open beyond 11 p.m. On Sundays, they close at 5 p.m. A selection of premium and imported beers is available at liquor stores. Beer is not available in any grocery stores. Spirits are only available at government operated liquor stores. Hours of operation are similar to beer stores. A selection of Canadian wines is available in some grocery stores and at some malls. They are generally open until 6 or 8 p.m. (except Sundays when they close at 5 p.m.).
