Do you feel like music has died?

By Vinny Marino

I can probably count on one hand, the number of new songs I hear that I actually like each year. In fact, most years, my pinky will do. This has been the case for me since the end of the 70's.

How can those of us who grew up with Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, etc. be expected to lower our standards to listening to...to... < fill in any artist under 50 here > .

My music collection is approximately 1,000 in number, but I am hard-pressed to think of a single recent (recent being 20 years) song I've acquired. My car radio is permanently set to the oldies station. If you're like me, this article is for you.

About a year and a half ago, I become aware of Microsoft's Photostory-3 program. What it basically does is allow you to string photos together with a backdrop of music. There are basic editing features available such as various transition modes and fading in and out, etc.

With no practise or planning, I chose a favourite oldies song and created a music video by finding appropriate images on the web and stitching them together. I repeated the process as I learnt a bit more about the tool and its capabilities. Some of the songs that I chose, I was able to express in ways that they have spoken to me since I was a young boy.

I don't make any money at this, however, many friends tell me they enjoy my videos a lot and I just want to share them. If you enjoy the classic rock and pop of the 60's and 70's, I invite you to visit my site whose URL is posted with this article.
